The Wii Accessories You Need:

A Quick Guide to Nintendo Wii Console Accessories

The Nintendo Wii game system has quickly become an extremely popular home game system in record time.

One of the reasons that the Wii system is so popular is that it's the first to bring virtual reality into the living room. Another factor of its huge acceptance is Nintendo's dedication to producing gaming material for the entire family, not only for those who enjoy the typically complex games we have on the market today.

The Wii made its debut at just about the time when Microsoft's new Xbox hit the market. The popularity of the Xbox could have been the 'kiss of death' for Nintendo's attempt to modernize their game systems. The Nintendo Wii was designed as a strong departure from the classic Nintendo DS system, still very much played across the world. But the video game industry is certainly all about the question “What have you done for me lately?” And Nintendo stepped to the plate, and hit a home run.

This article lists just some of the accessories currently available so that everyone in your family can enjoy the many faces of the Wii.

The Wii Console - Welcome back to family fun with this console. For just over $200, the entire family can enjoy time's treasured games and interact physically with them using Nintendo's unique wrist strapped controller. Anyone at just about any skill level can get in on the fun with this new machine. Plus the Nintendo Wii system comes with a free Wii Sports game cartridge.

Wii Accessories - If you're still "old school" and you prefer to use the classic Nintendo style controller, guess what. There is no need to relearn another system controller. The classic controller is still available and costs less than $20. But, of course, if you can't wait to try out the Wii Remote, they run around $40 each. The Wii Nun-chuck Controller, another new device, is available at around $20. These new controllers are certainly a large advancement in video game interaction. Both the Nunchuck and Remote controllers will give you hours of fun as you swing, bat, and move your way through your favorite games.

Memory Cards - For the longer games, or just for the times you want to save your place in your games, you can buy a 1GB SD Memory card ($40) or 2 GB SD memory card ($60) made by SanDisk or others, and pick up the fun where you left off at a later time.

Other - Of course, with all that active gaming going on, you could be warranted to purchase the  Wii Air cooler ($15) or the Wii Charge Station ($30). Plus with all the physical activity going on (for example playing Wii Fit) you might need to run out and buy a ceiling fan to keep YOU cool. (Just a suggestion.)

Finally, you might consider a pack of Wii Component cables ($30) to keep the back of your TV nice and neat.

As the popularity of the Nintendo Wii increases, certainly many game makers and others will create and sell many different accessories and additions for your Wii system. But what is most important about the Wii, is how home video gaming will never be the same.

So go ahead and get off the couch and have some fun!
